Working With a Broad Range of Technologies

Hallfield Controls has experience with a broad range of technologies stemming from the experience of our employees and the application diversity our customers bring to the table. Because customers rarely come with a blank slate, initial conversations often include the question, "what are you planning to use?" This question is fundamental to our core belief that the task at hand is more important than a specific resource's capability. If we don't already know it, we'll learn it.

The below-described technologies are a good representation of our experience but are not completely inclusive - this list will continue to develop. If you have a platform that you do not see below, contact us. We may already have experience with that application, and if not, we're willing to dive in with both feet.

Programming Platforms

Because programming is one of our core competencies, we've had an opportunity to work with numerous programming platforms. We work hard to ensure a selected platform meets your needs and your applications' requirements.

In many cases, our customers have a platform they like to use to help guide the selection process. If the decision is left to us, we choose a platform based on standard market technology, factoring in any special application conditions. The list below highlights these standard market technologies:
PLC / HMI
Our PLC and HMI experience is extensive. We regularly work with all major brands and have experience with many smaller brands. The list given below highlights the PLC and HMI brands we routinely program.

Windows PC
Occasionally, we have a need for PC-based control applications. Although the majority of our markets are geared toward PLC-based solutions, we find scenarios where the power of a PC-based application gives us the solution we need. Our PC applications can serve as a control, supervision or both. We have experience developing with these PC applications:
Software Development
  • Visual Studio .NET - C#
  • National Instruments LabView
  • Visual Studio .NET - Visual Basic
Hardware Access
  • Modbus RTU & Modbus/TCP (ModbusDriver.com FieldTalk)
  • OPC Server (Siemens, GE, & Kepware)
  • National Instruments
Data Management (Storage/Retrieval/Reporting)
  • SQL Server
  • SQL Server Express
  • Delimited Files (CSV)
  • XML
  • PDF
  • Crystal Reports
  • Web Services (SOAP & REST)
  • Custom UDP/TCP Packets
Embedded Processors
We develop embedded processor solutions on a case-by-case basis. We've developed a handful of applications for customers because their application dictated the need for an embedded solution or the extension of an existing device's functionality.

With the exception of programming Windows XP embedded using standard techniques, Hallfield's experience with embedded platforms is in the C-Language. The list below shows our embedded solutions experience to date:
Embedded Platforms
  • Windows XP Embedded
  • Windows CE
  • STW Technic 3XM & 3XL
  • Rabbit Semiconductor
